River Villa Preserve
by Chris, Green Meadow Elementary

River Villa Preserve is a nature preserve, with trails winding through the woods, a grassy meadow, a low-land marsh and the Kalamazoo River. The southeast portion of the property is a relatively swampy area that has a lot of wildlife in it. River Villa is open from dawn to dusk. The location is East Michigan Ave., just east of the Comstock Community Center. Every spring come join in the fun at the park on Earth Day.

The River Villa Preserve was a retreat operated by Sister's of St. Joseph before it was purchased by The Comstock Township in 1992. Although there is nothing left of the Villa of St. Anthony building that was so often used by the Sister's of St. Joseph, it was reported as being quite a place.
