ROBERT MORRIS
Who was Robert Morris? I know there is a park named Robert Morris Park, but who was Robert Morris? Robert Morris was a township Supervisor, an artist, a father, and a grandfather. This was Robert Morris.
Robert Morris lived in a family of twelve. He lived with his wife Anne, his six children, (David, Ron, Robert Jr., Tom, Mary, and Grace), his parents John and Irma Morris, one brother, and two sisters.
His first career was a commercial artist, but painting was always a hobby he enjoyed. He liked to paint nature scenes in oil on barnwood. At his urging, the first annual Comstock Arts and Crafts show was held in Merrill Park one month before his death. He displayed his favorite painting there. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-1949. He was a Comstock Township board trustee for four years prior to his 1966 election as supervisor, He served as supervisor for four two-year terms until his death in 1974.

Robert Morris ParK (located on East H. Ave.) was named after him because he was one of the main people who helped negotiate the purchase of the park in 1968. One of his passions as supervisor was to give families a place to gather and enjoy the outdoors.
