Township Clerk
We found our great information by e-mailing Mr.French, our Township Clerk. He gave us facts about what his job involves. Now we know quite a bit about our voting system. Besides overseeing voting, Mr. French has many other jobs. He writes documents, writes minutes to board meetings, and more! With all this work he took time to send us an e-mail.
We wondered how we prevent people voting twice, if there has been a tie, or what the Township Clerk does in a tie.
We prevent people from voting twice by making them sign an "Application to Vote" before they vote. After they sign this form they are marked in the polling book which records their name and date of birth.
Ties happen quite frequently especially in small towns. The Township Clerk pulls a name out of a hat if there is a tie. In 1996 an election was decided on 14 votes. So your vote COUNTS!!!
