Comstock's North Fire Station
5947 East H Ave. [269] 349- 5282
The North Fire Station is an important part of our community. It provides an excellent fire protection and prevention service. The North Fire Station also helps people when they are in car accidents and bad situations. They have open houses where children learn and have fun at the same time.
An empty lot was at the corner of East H Avenue and Oranoco before the North Fire station was built in 1961. The North fire station has lasted for forty-two years. The Fire Station was added onto by the original firemen. The North Station is the first to respond to fires in Comstock. They have forty-two volunteers. There are four full time paid firemen that work there. Three fire-chiefs work at the fire station.
Firemen usually choose to be firemen because their father or another family member was a fire man/woman. The firemen that work at the North Fire Station get special identifications. They get A.E. badges on their helmets. For every life they save they get a line on their badges. It gets very, very hot in the firemen's fire suits while they are saving lives.
The North Fire Station participates in many of Kalamazoo's parades, Kids' Cardiac events, and special requests [such as Girl Scouts' and Boy Scouts' learning experiences]. The North Fire Station participates in Comstock's Memorial Day Parade and Kalamazoo's 4th of July Parade. Kid's Cardiac is also one of the North Fire Station's exciting events. Kid's Cardiac is a program where the firemen come to a classroom and teach children how to perform CPR or teach them about fire safety.
The citizens of Comstock deeply appreciate the North Fire Station's service. The firemen are also deeply appreciated because they teach children fire safety and Cardial Pulmonary Resuscitation. [CPR] Firemen are also appreciated because they help people in trouble. So, everyone in Comstock values the North firemen's fire service.
