The Deadly Tornado

The date was August 8, 1939. Disaster struck Comstock Township. There were gray and black skies surrounding Comstock. Then it came, one of Nature's powerful storms. It was the tornado. It destroyed four industrial labs, damaged 24 homes, brought roots up from the trees, and blocked highways with trees and artifacts left behind. Two people died because of this calamity.

Many people had to replace items that were damaged from the tornado. Other parts of south Kalamazoo played a role in the disaster also. The Red Cross organization brought food and clothing to the homeless and found places for them to stay. Life went on, but many people still remember the tornado.
