The sweet potato is included in the 75 species of morning glories. They were brought here from South America. Morning glories thrive in good soil under a great variety of conditions, especially in the south. The flower is shaped like a trumpet and has a variety of colors. The colors are scarlet to pink, white, blue and purple. The large seed often is eaten by game birds.

VIOLETS
Violets grow around woodlands and roadsides in the east and west. They usually grow about 10 inches tall. Some violets have 5 dainty petals that are shaped like a heart . Not all violets are shaped like a heart. There is a violet called a dog violet.

DAYLILIES
The daylily was brought to Michigan by immigrants. Daylilies are mostly
yellow or orange. The daylily stalk is about 2 to 5 feet high. The linear leaves grow from
the base. Daylilies grow along roadsides and sometimes in fields.

DANDELIONS
There are some good uses for dandelions. You could make a drug for the liver out of them, and there are rich vitamins in the leaves.
